I have had the privilege and honour to work with a wonderful family in their search for a new home. I was recently told of their ongoing journey with their son Jack and his fight with a rare disease/syndrome and more importantly the support that BC Children’s Hospital and the Rare Disease Foundation have offered. Jack’s father shared that “These are two very important organizations to us: BCCH saved Jack's life and continues to provide excellent ongoing care to him, and the RDF gives us tremendous support and has been a light in our darker moments.”
Lace Up is basically a skating party for kids with rare diseases and their families and caregivers. There is skating (of course), games, photos with a mascot, a velcro wall and lots of fun stuff. Last year the event raised $50,000 for BC Children’s Hospital and the Rare Disease Foundation.
As a parent, with two small children, I would give anything for the health and welfare of my children and have become aware in recent years of the importance of organizations such as BC Children’s Hospital and more recently through Jack the Rare Disease Foundation. I have provided a link below where you can read more about Lace Up for Kids and join Jack and his parents as they spread the word and ask for donations to support these lifesaving organizations.
All too often we depend on the government and taxes to pay for these types of facilities and programs when they are truly dependent on individuals like you donating and supporting. Please consider donating anything that you can for this cause. CLICK HERE FOR INFORMATION ABOUT LACE UP FOR KIDS |
