Lower Lonsdale Changing Before Your Eyes

Greater Vancouver’s building surge continues.  Come to Lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver and you will witness this first hand.  Many of the projects on the go throughout North Vancouver are polarizing as North Vancouver residents fight to keep the quiet calm and family neighbourhoods unchanged as they have been for more than 100 years.  Traffic and over densification are concerns to all North Vancouver residents but it is impossible to halt the evolution of our community as the population grows and the need for further housing and amenities increase.

Lower Lonsdale has seen some of the most positive changes with the redevelopment of many sites along Lonsdale as well as the ongoing waterfront and shipyard revitalization and there appears to be no end in sight.  The growing pains continue as no one can agree with what direction to go in redeveloping Lower Lonsdale’s Shipyards.  That being said, we now know that a new Presentation House Theatre/Gallery will be built in this location. 

The Presentation House has been located in Lower Lonsdale on 3^rd and Chesterfield for many years and has been waiting for a new home.  The other big news is that Tap and Barrel is the anchor tenant for the Coppersmith Shop at the base of Lonsdale.  This will bring a much needed destination spot for food and drink to compliment the other local watering holes.  This is just the beginning as Lower Lonsdale continues to take steps into becoming a destination for all ages.
