The unusual spelling of this neighbourhood is attributed to Francis William Caufeild, one of the pioneers of West Vancouver. He was put ashore at Skunk Cove and purchased a large acreage there in 1889. He renamed it Caufeild, subdivided it and put in a water system. Mr. Caufeild passed in England in 1934 in his 90th year.
Caulfeild is situated at the foot of Cypress Mountain, a popular ski resort where many alpine skiing events were hosted during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Numerous parks are located in West Vancouver where families can gather to enjoy the spectacular natural surroundings.
